Why is it important to hire an architect?
Architects not only guide you through the design process, but they also produce the legal documents by which your project will be completed. That's right. The drawings are a legal document assuring you that your project will be built the way you want it.

What does it mean to be an architect?
Architects attend 5 years of schooling followed by an apprenticeship, which lasts a minimum of 3 years. Following the completion of the apprenticeship, architects take a series of 9 exams. After successfully completing the exams, an architect will be professionally licensed.

How do you provide your services?
Hourly Consulting - Many homeowners would like some guidance, but are not ready to commit to a project. For this, I provide hourly consulting. I will come to your house or site, and discuss the possibilities with you.

Contract Services - Following an initial meeting, I will put together a project proposal, which will outline the design phases and my fee. Smaller projects will be charged on an hourly basis at $95/hr. I will outline the estimated total time to complete your project. Larger custom homes will be contracted with a flat fee. The fee will be based on the size of house, total budget, and level of detailed requested.

How long will the design process take?
Depending on the size of the project, it usually takes two to six months to complete the Contract Documents. For instance, a small addition or renovation may take up to two months, while a large home may take six months or more.

Do you provide construction administration services?
Yes, at my hourly rate. I pride myself on working closely with contractors and make myself available to answer both their questions and your questions.

Can you help me find a General Contractor?
Yes, I can provide you with the names of contractors, who would be appropriate for your project.
